  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) pioneered in setting up the discipline of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) in China, which began with Department of Metallurgy in 1958, and renamed the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) in 1997.     • Prof. Kong received his Ph. D from Tsinghua Universiy in 2005, after that he worked as post-doctorate fellow at the University of Montreal, and then the University of Western Ontario. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2009.

      His current research focuses on computational and theoretical investigations of the structure and mechanical properties of non-equilibrium materials, as well as the interfacial structure and interfacial behavior of solid-melt interfaces, by using molecular dynamics simulations and/or first principles calculations. These investigations facilitate the understanding of the underlying physics of these materials.

    • Prof. Deliang Zhang got his BE degree in materials engineering from Northeastern University of Technology (currently Northeastern University), China (1985), and DPhil degree in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Oxford, UK (1991), and has work experiences at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, University of Queensland, Australia, North Carolina State University, USA, and the University of Waikato, New Zealand. He was selected into the “Qianren Plan” of China in 2010, and now works at the School of Materials Science and Engineer, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, as a Chair Professor, and leads the advanced powder metallurgy materials and technology research laboratory. He has been the author or co-author of more than 210 research papers published in international journals and conference proceedings.
