    • This course is a basic course for international students and senior undergraduate students.

      The curriculum is 32-hour teaching with 2 credits, plus an essay examination. The scale of class is about 25 international students from various countries, i.e., the US, France, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Australia and Greece. The course is taught in English.

      The goal of this course is to cultivate foreign-related legal talents who can directly use English to talk with foreign lawyers and to draft legal documents. This goal requires students to comprehend foreign laws and know foreign legal concepts and rules well; meanwhile, it requires students to skillfully use legal English by acquiring strong ability in written and oral English.

      On the other hand, this course helps international students to know more about Chinese private international law rules and regulations, as well as its major differences from foreign laws. After taking this course, international students are able to solve legal problems and know how to handle an international case for jurisdiction and selection of governing law issues.

      This course is commonly regarded by the students to be challenging but interesting. It certainly arouses their enthusiasm at the same time. Comparative angles further deepen the comprehension of Chinese private international law rules for international students and help them build up a strong capability to solve legal issues.
    • Course Syllabus:
    • After completing the course, students should:
      1. Comprehend both Chinese and foreign laws and know both Chinese and foreign legal concepts and rules well;
      2. Acquire strong ability in written and oral English and use it skillfully;
      3. International students should know more about Chinese private international law rules and its differences from foreign laws;
      4. International graduates could use what they’ve learnt in the course to solve legal problems and know how to handle an international case for jurisdiction and selection of governing law issues.
